Back glass replacement with MagSafe and NFC

Laser-free method for full rear-cover assemblies that ship with magnets, wireless charging coil and NFC flex already fitted.

What you need

  • Heat pad (70–80°C)
  • Thin opening picks and a plastic card
  • Phillips #000 and Y000 drivers
  • Perimeter adhesive (supplied)
  • IPA 99%
  • Clamps

Step by step

  1. 01

Confirm you have a full rear cover, not bonded glass

Full covers with magnets, coil and NFC skip the laser step entirely — that is why they are the trade default.

  2. 02

Power off and discharge below 25%

You will be working directly over the cell.

  3. 03

Heat the rear perimeter to 70–80°C

Work heat in slowly. Rushing lifts the camera lens bezel and cracks the coating.

  4. 04

Cut the perimeter adhesive with picks

Keep picks shallow along the top edge where the antenna and flex run.

Deep picks along the camera side sever the NFC or flash flex. Go shallow and slow.

  5. 05

    Transfer or verify the sub-assemblies

Check the new cover carries the MagSafe magnet array, wireless charging coil, camera lens brackets and NFC flex. Move anything missing across.

  6. 06

    Clean the frame completely

Every trace of old adhesive off, then IPA the whole lip. Residue is the number one cause of a rocking back.

  7. 07

    Test wireless charging before sealing

Dry-fit, connect, and confirm MagSafe snap, wireless charge and NFC all respond.

  8. 08

    Adhere and clamp

Fit the pre-cut adhesive, close, and clamp for 20 minutes for a flush, sealed finish.

What goes wrong, and the fix

MagSafe no longer snaps

Magnet array missing or fitted with reversed polarity. Use a cover with the array pre-installed.

Wireless charging stops

Charge coil flex not reseated or pinched under the frame. Reseat and retest before adhesive.

Contactless payments fail

NFC flex torn during pick work along the top edge. Replace the flex or fit a cover that includes it.

Back rocks or lifts at a corner

Adhesive residue in the frame. Strip fully, degrease, refit and clamp.

Questions techs ask

Do I need a laser machine?
Not with these assemblies. The glass arrives on a complete rear cover, so there is nothing to burn off the old frame.
Are the magnets included?
On MagSafe-listed covers, yes — magnet array, camera lens brackets and NFC flex are pre-fitted.
Will it still be water resistant?
With the supplied perimeter adhesive and a proper clamp you get splash resistance back, not the factory IP rating.
